Interlibrary Loan Retrieval Service

The Law Library offers a special Interlibrary Loan Retrieval Service program to San Francisco firms, from solos to large firms, which provides extended reference and circulation services.  This is a sliding fee based program starting at no charge for firms with 9 or less attorneys.

Services include:

Messenger Privileges:

Members may call or email materials requests, which Library staff will prepare for messenger pickup.

Online catalog:

Members may check their accounts, renew materials online and opt to maintain a permanent record of all items borrowed.

HeinOnline documents:

Librarians will email documents in PDF format at members’ request from the Library’s HeinOnline database.  Or they can be printed for fax delivery or messenger pickup.

CEB OnLAW searches:

Members may request a subject search of the CEB OnLaw database to determine which CEB texts or action guides are most useful for their needs.

Fax/scan services:

Non-circulating items will be faxed to members at no charge.

Extended Reference support:

Reference librarians will provide assistance regarding challenging research issues.

Interlibrary Loans:

Request interlibrary loans from other libraries, such as the California State Library, for a small administrative fee plus shipping.

Satellite privileges:

San Francisco firm members with a satellite office in the larger Bay Area may enroll that location as a separate ILL member, with full Interlibrary Loan Retrieval Program privileges.

Application form can be downloaded here. For more information, contact the Civic Center reference desk at (415) 554-6821 or email sflawlibrary@sfgov.org
